Hi everyone! My name is Beatrice and I am a 6 year old, grey tabby. Although my official name is Beatrice, I also answer to Beabins, Baby Bea and probably, most fitting, Queen B! If you can’t tell by my picture, I am the queen of my castle.
I was brought into Centennial Animal Hospital when I was approximately 2 weeks old. I had been found in someone’s garage, being attacked by a squirrel, and my mom was nowhere in sight. I had a wound to my head and one of my back legs was badly injured. Given the fact I was too young to take care of myself, I couldn’t be sent back to the garage because there was no one to take care of me. So Casey, one of the technicians at Centennial Animal Hospital, took me home to foster me and she bottle fed me for about 3 weeks. At that point, Casey needed to go away for a conference, so my mom agreed to take care of me for the weekend. I entered the house and had everyone in the “palm of my paw”. Five weeks old and less then 2lbs and I was bossing around the cat and the 75lb dog. My mom was not looking to add anymore pets to the household so when Casey returned, I went back to her house. Nobody had realized, that in two short days, I had woven my magic until the dog and cat spent days after I had left going around the house looking for me and stopped eating. That did the trick and soon Jennifer brought me home permanently.
I am not your typical cat. I do not like to be pet or touched, unless it is on my terms, and if you do it longer then I would like, I will bite. Biting is unfortunately my answer for dealing with things as I missed some important lessons growing up; ones that cannot be taught by a human mom. I am lucky that I found a home where I am loved unconditionally and with someone who knows how to live with a cat with some behavioural issues. It is not like I want to hurt anyone, I just don’t know how to deal with things appropriately. I am not one of those cats that interact much with people and I only tolerate the other 3 cats. The one thing I love is my dog. I adore my dog, Leonard; I kiss him, play with him, sleep with him and head butt him! My family think that I look at him like he is my mom but what can I say, I just love dogs!
I like to play. My favorite toy in the whole world is the laser toy. I will sit and cry at it and tap it until someone gets it going for me. I go almost trance like and hunt the laser for extended periods of time. I also like pompom balls with foil in them. I carry them around the house in my mouth while caterwauling. I want everyone to know that I have the best toy in the house and for them to admire it. I love watching the birds on the bird feeder. I crouch down low and chatter at them. I honestly think I could catch one if I was given the opportunity but I am an indoor cat. I also love nap times. My favorite spot is on the heated bed – I spend hours at a time on it. I am also happy to curl up on the dog’s bed in the sunshine. I don’t think he minds sharing with me too much...
Sometimes, being the Queen of my castle is hard work but, it also has its perks. Getting treats and some tuna, my favorite, everyone once in a while help to make my life even more purrfect!
Charlotte’s Day at the Spa!
My name is Charlotte! I am a 12 year old, collie cross that my family adopted from the OSPCA over 11 years ago. I am not a social girl; I like my family, my home, my yard and that is pretty much it!
I knew my Spring Spa Day was nearing. I had heard my family talking about all of the black tufts of hair I was leaving around the house and all of the dirt that was being brought in by my hairy “Grinch” feet!
One morning, I saw my Mom grab my leash off of the hook and I immediately ran and hid behind the couch. After all, she might be trying to make my go for *GASP* a walk! I like to think that I am smarter than her, but she found me and offered me a treat. The next thing I knew, I was in the car!
When I got to Centennial Animal Hospital, my mom set me up in a cozy house where I drifted off to sleep until Kayla, my groomer, came to get me. I went into the tub and had a shampoo massage with shampoo that smells like coconuts; my mom says I smell like a tropical vacation afterwards!
Once I was towelled dry, I went back into my house, with a cage dryer, to dry me off as much as possible. I usually drift off to sleep until Kayla gets me out again. I then go up on the grooming table and the beautification process begins! Today, my mom requested a short summer clip, with an ear clean and a nail trim. There sure was a lot of hair on the floor after my groom today!
After I was done, my mom picked me up. She always makes such a big fuss over me; which I love! When I got home, I ran to all my family members to show off! Please feel free to tell me how cute you think I am too...
You there! Yes you! I am Angus. I am a 5 year-old orange tabby and no, your eyes are not deceiving you, I am that handsome!
I enjoy spending my days lying in the sun all over the house; whether it is on the kitchen counter, dinner table or my cat tree. I prefer the kitchen counter, but don’t tell my mom that.
I have a pet dog and his name is Chester. He likes to chew on me and it is disgusting! Sometimes I bite him as he walks by and then I run. It is so funny when he tries to catch me! Sometimes, I even have to clean him because he doesn’t seem to be able to do it himself.
My mom and dad say that I have allergies and that is why I cannot eat from their plates. I let them know how upset I am by yelling at them while they eat. When they not looking, I try and grab things as fast as I can. One time I stole half of a steak off the counter but my mom caught me…
Oh, look at that! It’s midnight! Time to go run laps around the house and yell into the darkness.
Hi! My name is Chester and I just turned 2 years old! I have no idea what kind of dog I am, I just know that I am pretty great!
My favorite thing in the whole world is food! Speaking of food, do you have any?! Oh sorry, I am easily distracted. Where was I? Oh yeah! I love everyone, furry and otherwise. I have a feline brother and his name is Angus. We do fun things together like play chase and wrestle! Sometimes he cleans my ears for me too.
I prefer spending my time outside playing, regardless the season. My mom sends me to daycare and I think it is the best place ever! I get to play with all my friends and run through the bush! Sometimes I run so fast that I can’t even see where I am going.
Well, it was great to meet you, but I think I hear mom opening a cheese package in the other room! I have got to go!
My name is Jill (aka Miss Jilly or Jilly Bean). I am a five year old tri- colour American Cocker Spaniel.
I love a good explore in the woods or chasing mice in the hay field but I am just as happy to curl up by the fireplace or watch baseball on the couch.
My favourite things in the whole world are food, and my big brother Denver, and food and going to the cabin and food... You get the picture. Not surprisingly, I struggle to keep my girlish figure. My Mom (the vet) says it's all my Dad's (the cookie man) fault!
I had surgery this winter to repair ruptured ligaments in my knees. But now I am good as new. Everyone said I was very brave when I went to the orthopedic surgeon. Usually I am a bit of a princess when I see needles, unless I am distracted by food!
I am a sporting breed and supposed to be a bird dog. But our chickens scare me so I would rather be a squirrel or chipmunk dog I think.
Bye for now
Hi, my name is Edward! I am also known as Eddy Spaghetti, Fast Eddy and Squidward (from Sponge Bob Square Pants).
I was born with a deformed leg, which was not growing “normally”, and was brought into Centennial Animal Hospital to get it examined. It was determined that I would need extensive surgery and lifelong care and that was not financially possible. Thankfully, my mom fell in love with me on the spot. She stepped up right away, adopted me and got me the necessary veterinary care. Unfortunately, I did have to have my leg amputated but I live an amazing life, in the best home I could ever have asked for. I am now almost 5 years old and get along really well on 3 legs. I still think that I can run really fast and sometimes wipe out in my enthusiasm to get where I am going.
I have a younger brother named Gideon, an older sister named Thea and then there is the cat, Eli Gammon. I feel the cat is just some distant relative that lives with us and I have no idea why we keep him. My mom thinks that I am really smart because I learn things very quickly. I learned how to “sit pretty” in record time. I don’t want to brag but I did learn it pretty quickly!
I have 2 favorite pastimes. The first is eating! I love food however, my mom needs to keep me on a strict diet to ensure extra weight does not harm my other joints. The second is napping! I am not picky. I am happy to curl up whether it is on the couch or my soft, squishy dog bed.
It was nice talking with you all but I must go because I just notice the couch is free and I am pretty tired!
Hi everyone! My name is Gideon and I am a one year old, shepherd mix. I was rescued from Northern Ontario and was adopted by my mom when I came into Centennial Animal Hospital for veterinary care.
Now that I know what it is like to live in a home, I have learned that I appreciate the luxuries in life. I like to sleep on the couch; dog beds are just not comfortable enough for me. I also love good food. I get super excited at meal times and am guilty of eating way too fast. But, when there is good food to eat, what do you expect?!
I am a bit of a troublemaker. I like to keep life interesting and may get myself into trouble from time to time. I harass my cat, Eli Gammon, constantly. He has learned to stay away from me and I have learned how quick a cat can run! Household items are fair game too! I may have chewed the coffee table and a pillow but they can’t prove it was me. I also may have eaten the philodendron plant but I would appreciate it if you don’t bring that up to my mom. She was a little unhappy with me that day with it being a poisonous plant and all!
I love to go hiking with my mom! I am pretty good at it if you ask me. I even have my own backpack to carry my own water. It took my mom a while, but I eventually was able to learn how to “sit pretty”. I may have been a bit stubborn with the learning process but I had other more important things to do.
Well, time to go, the cat just snuck by!
My name is Princess Poppy! I was named by a 4 year old girl and the name has really grown on me. I have only been living with my family for about one year. I was adopted, along with my sister (Peanut the Destroyer – named by a 7 year old boy), when I was brought into Centennial Animal Hospital by the OSPCA; I had overgrown teeth and couldn’t eat properly. My overgrown teeth made it difficult for me to be adopted so thankfully, I now live in a great home, with 3 little humans who love us a lot. I come to work with my mom about every 3 months to get my teeth trimmed.
I spend most of my days snacking on hay or pellets but I LOVE tomatoes!!! My picture shows how messy my face gets after I eat them. The first time my mom gave them to me she thought I was bleeding – it was so funny watching her panic and figure out where the “blood” was coming from. I have trained Mom and Dad to feed us when we start to whistle (usually when they make the "little humans" lunches for school because there are lots of fruits and veggies in there). They were really easy to train and are quick to give up the goods!!!
This winter has been a very long one and I cannot wait until the weather is warmer and the snow melts so we can spend more time outside purring and eating grass and dandelions. As much as we love snuggles, being outside is so exciting!!! Let’s hope this nice sunshine sticks around and spring 2018 is here to stay.
I am a 4 year old, Chihuahua cross who has many different names. My owners named me Callaway but I also go by the names of Bouches, Wankerino, Guessepie, and my dog-sitter calls me Cal. I share a house with a black cat, who likes to give me baths on a regular basis. I like to chase him when he moves quickly because you never know where he could be running to so fast. We also cuddle for warmth on mom and dad's bed since they keep this “house” of ours at freezing cold Antarctic temperatures and I am used to the Mexican thermostat! Besides being a couch potato, and sleeping underneath the blankets all day, I enjoy going to the golf course and chasing after the cart, sunbathing in the summer time, and being in my mom’s arms or on her lap. I have the stomach/brain of a Labrador which means I LOVEEEEEEEE food! All FOOD! Food is my life besides sleeping. I also love being a terrier and chasing creatures such as squirrels, chipmunks, and my uncle's chickens. I know I appear small, but when I chase them and bark at them, I feel big, scary, and powerful.
Anyways, this has taken a lot of energy to write, so I am going to go beg my dad for a snack, then back to the couch and sleeping under the blankets to keep warm until summer arrives!
Hi, I’m She-ra!
I was named by my human Grandma. Not long after I was chosen by my human mother, she couldn’t find the perfect name for me. My Grandma was flipping through the TV late one night and came across the animated show She-ra the Princess of Power. So, that is how I got my name!
Let me tell you that the name was not only Purrfect, but so me! In my household I call all of the shots. Every morning I have to be fed no later than 7am. To make sure my parents don’t forget, as they are forgetful, I start waking them up at 6am!
I always have to know who my mom is talking to on the phone however, she doesn’t seem to pay attention to me. Play fighting with her always gets her attention! When I was a kitten I grew up with dogs so in my heart I am a dog. I love dogs! I can even play fetch too!
I may seem like a lot to handle but, I am a playful, sassy kitty of soon to be 9 years old. I stole my mom’s heart when she first laid eyes on me at 8 weeks old and that is why I can get away with so much! ;)
